How the scene works
- RA (ra.co/events/gr/athens, filterable by house or techno) is the most complete calendar for clubs and collective nights. Most AUX, SMUT, Romantso, IT, Astron and Patision65 parties are ticketed there. ↗
- DIY and warehouse raves often list the venue as 'secret location' and tell you to DM the organiser's Instagram for the address (e.g. 303 Rave x Warehouse Athens). Watch collectives' IG stories close to the date. ↗
- Some queer house parties are deliberately low-profile. Qreclaim, for example, runs about 3 parties a year in old Athenian houses and mansions, with no website, and you hear about them through people who go. Mobile queer parties (Strap-on Unicorns) announce on IG and Facebook. ↗
- SMUT has a strict safe-space policy and a no-camera rule. ↗
- Small basement and after-hours spots: Crust (13 Protogenous, Psyrri; basement under a pizza place), Russian Disco Meteorit (11 Nikis; opens only for pop-ups, so check its socials), Skullbar (13 Lambrou Katsoni, Exarchia; basement, very late). ↗
- In autumn and winter the scene moves indoors to Psyrri, Gazi and Metaxourgeio basements and converted factories. Nights run until sunrise and peak late (arriving after 01:00 is normal). ↗
- Pre-holiday nights are big: Oct 27 (before Oxi Day on Oct 28) has a 12-hour AUX marathon. Also expect closures in the centre on 7–8 Nov for the Marathon. ↗
- Telegram: this research found no Athens-specific public Telegram party channels (the Telegram-for-location practice is documented for Berlin). In Athens the documented channel is IG DMs and stories. Treat Telegram as possible but unconfirmed. ↗
- Gallery openings cluster on Thursday evenings (typically 19:00–22:00) in Metaxourgeio/Kerameikos, Kolonaki and the Piraeus Polidefkous Street district. Galleries usually post the night before on IG. Pattern based on the gallery pages above, not a single source. ↗
